Before you call

What people ask before they hire us

Do you replace my military defense lawyer?

No. You keep the lawyer assigned to you, whose services cost you nothing. We add civilian counsel, work with them and, if you choose, take the lead.

Are you part of the military or the government?

No. We are a private law firm, not affiliated with the U.S. military, the Department of Defense or any branch.

Will my command find out I called?

Not from us. We don’t contact your command without your permission, and we’ll talk about how to keep your calls and messages private.

What does it cost?

We tell you our fee when we talk and put it in a written agreement before any work begins. Calling to find out whether we can help doesn’t commit you to anything.

I’m a family member. Can I call for my spouse?

Yes. We’ll listen and explain how the process works. We can only take direction on a case from the service member, who is the client.

Do you work with people stationed outside Colorado?

Yes. We take matters at installations across the Mountain West and farther, with local counsel where a case needs it.

What should I avoid before I call?

Signing or initialing a statement you haven’t had a lawyer read, and talking about the matter with the people involved. Asking for a lawyer is your right, and it isn’t an admission.

How quickly will someone answer?

We read messages as they arrive during office hours, and urgent calls come first. If it can’t wait, call.

Can you help with a military divorce or custody case?

Not in this firm. We refer family law matters to colleagues who handle them, and we can help you find one near your installation.

Do you handle disability claims with the VA?

Not in this firm. Discharge upgrades can affect eligibility for benefits, and for disability claims we can point you to accredited representatives.
